Mission Hills

Mission Hills is the destination neighborhood of choice for many urban dwellers. It is located on an elevated point of land with views of Mission Valley to the north and San Diego’s waterfront to the west. Since Mission Hills was developed right after the turn of the last century, it features many Craftsman and Spanish-style historic homes built before World War II.  Even though the area is known for older homes, there are many contemporary properties in the neighborhood. There are a few multi-family properties scattered close to the main shopping area at Goldfinch Street and Fort Stockton Drive.

Mission Hills offers two distinct neighborhoods. North Mission Hills is primarily made up of single family homes. Near Presidio Park you will find the larger lots and generally more expensive properties. Closer to the main business center on Goldfinch Street, you will find homes on smaller lots and some scattered duplexes.

South Mission Hills is an eclectic neighborhood that is located between Hillcrest to the east and North Mission Hills to the north. Here you can find a vibrant bar and food scene as well as stately view homes overlooking downtown.  South Mission Hills has great access to downtown and the beaches. It is more urban than North Mission Hills and is closer to downtown.  The explosive of growth in San Diego’s urban center will only benefit this neighborhood.

There is an active Mission Hills Town Council that promotes the neighborhood businesses, monitors and advises on political issues that effect the neighborhood, and organizes a series of summer concerts and other community events.
